Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: A very unique experience staying in amazing, cozy and comfortable rooms tucked just inside a white-washed, clean and tidy cave (our room had a window, which we preferred; some are fully cave-like, but always in a neat and clean way). Comfy bed, nice lighting, and plenty of blankets and space heater to keep us warm. Wonderful staff Alex took good care of us with dinner, breakfast, blankets, and good conversation. He is a great guy who will take care of all your needs and become a friend. Close to Shobak Castle, which is definitely worth a visit. Otherwise, a bit of a remote spot, so be sure to tell them the day before you arrive that yes, you would like dinner, please! And a wonderful dinner will be served in the shared dining room.

Negative: We were there during the war with Iran, so Jordan was devoid of tourists. Great for visiting the sites, but it’s difficult for these awesome places to survive. So: go!!! It’s pretty great. Don’t expect luxury accommodations, and be prepared with extra layers. Do expect an amazing adventure, good food and conversation, a comfortable bed, and maybe a new friend.
