Positive: This is probably the nicest place I have ever stayed in my life. I have stayed at many ryokan before and this is a step above all of them. The only issue you may have is a more modern aesthetic vs a more "traditional" rustic one. The private onsen are INSANE, breathtaking. The meals, served in room, were some of the best food I have ever had in Japan and I have been going since 2009. The Hokkawa onsen area is picturesque and the oceanside drive is scenic and amazing. This is a top tier ryokan that has redefined my idea of how good things can get.
Negative: I cannot think of a single thing that would have made my experience better. Selfishly, I guess if the server spoke more English? The price is a bit high in a vacuum, but for what you are getting it is 100% fair.
Summary: Amazing. One of the Best Ryokan in Japan.
