Positive: We stayed at Casa Amara Koh Phangan and the property has a lot of potential. The house itself is spacious and in a nice location, and at the time of our stay it was also very well priced. The island was quite busy, and compared to other options we were able to rent a large house for roughly the same price as a small bungalow, which was great value. However, when we arrived it felt like the house had been empty for quite a long time. The downstairs area had a strong empty house/mold smell and overall it didn’t feel properly cleaned. There were also some dirty dishes and geckos inside the cabinets. After we informed the host, cleaner was sent twice, which we appreciated. She did improve the situation somewhat, but it still didn’t feel fully cleaned and the smell downstairs remained. Because of this we ended up spending most of our time on the upper floor. With a more thorough cleaning before guest arrivals, the house could offer a much better experience, especially since the space and value for money are really good.
