nature/wilderness: the lodge is located in the mountains of rural western north carolina This area contains national forests, wilderness areas, streams, rivers and lakes. Do not be surprised if you see wildlife from time to time. Although we do not allow hunting from the property, there are areas nearby that allow wildlife hunting during certain seasons of the year. We encourage everyone to educate themselves about native wildlife and enjoy any that they see in the great outdoors. Even if you don’t see anything, you may get to hear their sounds. In the summer months, nothing is better than hearing Katydids, a Whip-Poor-Will or a Bob White while you sit on the deck overlooking the mountains and lake. Typically, you will "not" see the most dangerous types of wildlife; however, contact with any kind of wildlife can be dangerous when approached. Please be reasonable and use caution while doing any and all outdoor activities..
