Summary: There were only 2 of us in the house and we had a great week. The pool is large and the weather was wonderful. The location is rural and peaceful and yet well located for visits to Florence or Siena. We like heading off for a morning coffee but the two nearest towns (Strada or San Polo in Chianti) are not too great, San Polo being the better of the two. Impruneta a bit further away has some character. Although the house has 4 bedrooms, I think it may not work too well for a large group. There are 3 upstairs bedrooms but the other two have low ceiling heights and I suspect are not very comfortable for adults to move about in. The master bedroom is upstairs and this is fine. The downstairs bedroom is cool and spacious and there is a sliding door to separate it off from the rest of the house, effectively making it en-suite, but then there would be no downstairs loo for general use. Another problem for a large group could be the lack of showers. There are only two showers in the house, one is in the upstairs family bathroom and the other is en-suite off one of the low ceiling height upstairs bedrooms. All of this wasn't any problem for us but I could see that it could be a problem for some larger groups. There are two showers in the pool block but these appeared to be cold water only. The other thing slightly odd about the house is that it only has one door in and out. There are no terrace doors for indoor/outdoor living. (With all the windows barred, it did also strike me that it could be a bit of a fire risk as there is no other means of escape.) We spent many happy hours in the shade by the pool but a larger group might find that there is not enough shade under the single but large parasol. However on the other side of the pool there is good shade under the trees. In summary I would go back with another couple in the downstairs bedroom and possibly adult singles or young children in each of the small upstairs bedrooms.
