Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The location was good with a number of restaurants, convenience stores, and groceries within walking distance. We never had any issues getting an Uber. Just down from the house is the ocean and a short path leads to a beach and swimming area. The unit had 5 queen beds. Each bedroom and the living area had its own air conditioning unit. There is a solar generator on the property but it only seemed to keep the air conditioners in our unit running and worked intermittently. My grandson enjoyed the pool and the rest of us enjoyed sitting by it in the mornings and evenings. I always felt safe in the complex and felt safe walking in the area alone during the day but probably would not walk around alone at night. We didn't spend much time in the apartment aside from sleeping so it was adequate for our needs while in Puerto Rico.

Negative: The beds were uncomfortable. The property management company wasn't very communicative prior to arrival with instructions on access. I had to message several times before they sent instructions and codes. We arrived on a Sunday evening and the place was clean but when I opened the kitchen drawers, there were roaches. I promptly reported this and was told they would send someone the next day. No one came until Thursday. They only supplied 1 bath towel per guest, no hand towels, no wash clothes, no beach towels, etc. There is a laundry room on premises but the dryer was broken and there was a major power outage that lasted multiple days while we were there so I was unable to wash the towels they had supplied. I requested additional towels on Tuesday. They didn't bring any until Thursday afternoon. By that time, I had already purchased some. The apartment itself had a very institutional feel with little done to soften things or make it feel homey (people in my group mentioned it felt like a school, a prison, or a mental institute). The hard surfaces made noises, such as doors closing, echo loudly throughout. The furniture was sparse and cheap. The hot water in the showers was intermittent.
