Positive: The pub, the restaurant, the food, the new refurbishment downstairs is all lovely. Very nice vibe, very friendly, lovely place to be and great food.
Negative: None of this is particularly bad in any way, but for the price we paid, which was up to 30-40% more than other comparable options in the area, I was expecting more. I chose The Pheasant due to the good reviews and because it was for our anniversary so I wanted somewhere special, but I don't think it was value for money. The bathroom has large stains from damp on the wall. There was an old sock and a dead woodlouse on the floor but I think there was a mix up with our rooms so perhaps they hadn't done an extra clean and had missed these bits. Somewhere to hang wet clothes would have been useful, either a drying room or some hanging space in the bathroom - in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales it's predictable that people will go for a walk, and that it might rain. There's no shower, only a shower head that sits on the bath taps, so you can't hang things in the shower either, just one hook on the back of the bathroom door which doesn't do much when two of you have been on the hills in the rain all day. There were two bath towels (one with a black mark on it) but no smaller towels for hands or drying hair.
Summary: It's a lovely place with great food and friendly staff, but the price didn't match expectations.
