Positive: Ilha da Gigoia is the best Rio has to offer. The boat crossings are a special treat. The authentic warmth of a community without dangers, the Barra attractions without pretentiousness and high prices. Oasis do Barral fits perfectly in the island. Of course if you want a “sophisticated” international hotel where you need a car or taxi to go anywhere, this is not for you.
Negative: A little less rain Sunday would have been handy. I used the morning to see the island.
Summary: Ilha da Gigoia is the best Rio has to offer. The boat crossings are a special treat.
