Across the road from the house, there is access to the River Coe down a sloping bank, and it is a short walk to the shores of Loch Leven. This is an ideal base for touring the west coast and Highlands of Scotland, and the spectacular surrounding scenery has been used as the backdrop for many famous films including ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Rob Roy’ and ‘Braveheart’. Fort William is known as the ‘Outdoor Capital of the UK’ and from here you can catch the Jacobite Steam Train, crossing the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, or ride on the gondola up Aonach Mor for magnificent views.
oban, a small harbour town, is the ‘gateway to the isles’ with regular ferries to the inner isles, including mull and iona Cross to the islands on the Corran ferry to explore the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, the most westerly point in Britain, or head for Mallaig to catch the Armadale ferry to the Isle of Skye.
