One of Colorado's main draws is Rocky Mountain National Park, which can make for a great day trip. Drive a little over an hour and a half through a dramatic canyon for a day of hiking, sightseeing, and wildlife viewing. Depending on your destination, skiing is 1-3 hours away. Locals head to Echo Mountain, Eldora (near Boulder), or Loveland (near Georgetown) for a more low-key experience. We're also within 1.5 hours of Arapahoe Basin, Winter Park, Keystone, Copper Mountain, and Breckenridge.

getting around:
mountain living and exploring require you to get around by car We highly recommended high clearance 4WD for mountain driving, especially during winter. Downtown Denver is East of where you will be staying, and West you can explore the Rocky Mountains. I-70 West will take you further into the mountains, and CO-470 will take you to Golden, jumping on US-6 to get to the heart of Denver. US Hwy 285 will take you South to Conifer and beyond.
